Linn Area Long Term Recovery Coalition
The Linn Area Long Term Recovery Coalition (LALTRC) is a partnership of more than 70 local health and human service providers, government agencies, funding sources, faith-based organizations and others dedicated to supporting collaborative long-term recovery efforts to rebuild the lives of those impacted by the Flood of 2008.
Its mission is to provide collaborative leadership and strengthen area-wide ongoing disaster coordination. LALTRC is responsible for sharing information, advocating for the most vulnerable, simplifying access to services, and jointly resolving flood caused human recovery needs.
Areas of emphasis include: Volunteer Coordination, Financial Management, Client Advocacy, Community Assessment, Crisis Counseling, Spiritual and Emotional Care, Construction Coordina- tion, and Communications. Committees for each of these key areas are working on specific action plans to support and advance the LALTRC mission.
LALTRC is led by a steering committee. Representation on the steering commit-tee includes representatives from key community partners committed to the long-term recovery process.
Each participating organization in the lar-ger coalition brings something different to the partnership - financial resources, staff support, volunteer management, understanding of different areas of need, direct services, and more.
The following subcommittees have been set up to provide support to the LALTRC steering committee:
- Volunteer Coordination
- Communication & Information
- Finance
- Case Advocacy
- Community Assessment
- Crisis Counseling
- Spiritual & Emotional Care
- Construction Coordination
The Coalition is working to understand the level of unmet need within affected households as a result of this disaster. The Coalition’s priorities focus on providing labor or financial assistance to eligible households so a safe living environment is available. The assistance provided will help restore or provide essential living space.
Supportive services include individualized needs assessment and case advocacy, crisis counseling, spiritual and emotional care and information and referral.
