The Flood 2008 Fund was established on June 12, 2008 by the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation GCRCF) to respond to the effects of the historic June 2008 flood.

Over the past two years, the GCRCF has awarded more than $5.5 million in grants to nearly 100 local nonprofits that serve the greater good and are working to rebuild our community after the flood. Nonprofits have provided immediate food and shelter, supplies and equipment kits for flood clean up, child care for flood-affected households during clean up and rebuilding, free legal assistance, home furnishings and appliances, mental health and substance abuse services and much more.

The GCRCF will accept grant proposals for the Flood 2008 Fund from nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organizations and public agencies in Linn County through June 8, 2010 either by email or postal mail. Organizations may request funding from $500 to $25,000 per proposal.
